Video Conferencing

I realize that this may be a little off topic, but I would be curious for those companies out there with offices scattered around the globe, does your company participate in video conferencing to conduct meetings? If so, what type of video conferencing equipment do you utilize and do you find it a good alternative to actually flying in for a face to face meeting? I know that during 9/11 many companies began utilizing conference calls and video conferencing as an alternative to paying exorbitant airfares. I would appreciate any comments you may have.
