Peak Season - 2006 Sets Another Record

Although peak season is just barely upon us, we are already seeing records broken in terms of volume handled at both the ports and railroads. Last month the Port of Los Angeles handled 404,664 TEU’s making it the first U.S. port to handle over 400,000 TEU in a single month. Additionally, from some of the reports I have read, August is also shaping to be an extremely busy month at the ports where most analysts are predicting numbers similar to what we would typically see in October. Brace yourselves for potential backlogs at the ports and with a shortage of drayage companies, especially in the LA/Long Beach area, it will more than likely affect the transit times on your inbound supply chain.
