Another Record Setting Month For Shanghai

It seems like every time we turn around Shanghai port is setting records for cargo throughput. According to China Daily, August was another record setting month for the Shanghai port after handling 1.95 million TEUS’s.

Container volume rose 21 per cent to 1.95 million 20-foot boxes last month, the State-owned company said on its website. It handled 14 million boxes between January and August, 19 per cent more than a year earlier.

China exported 23 per cent more clothing, electronics and other goods in the first seven months of the year, increasing shipments through Shanghai and the country’s other sea ports. About 90 per cent of global trade is carried by sea. source – chinadaily.com
