Yantian receives Emma Maersk

The Emma Maersk, currently the world’s largest container vessel, called on the port of Yantian as part of its maiden voyage.

An interesting fact I picked out from this short article:

Between January and September, Yantian wharf recorded a turnover of more than six million containers, or almost half of Shenzhen’s total, up 12 percent over the same period of last year, the authorities said. Photo – ANP

Look for Yantian’s share of Shenzhen’s total cargo to continue to increase while Hong Kong’s share decreases.
