When I was in India earlier this year I visited some factories in a suburb (we would call it a city) near Delhi called Gurgaon. I remember very clearly the rows of giant, shiny office buildings, almost all of them fairly new, with corporate names at the top that I had never heard of. My agent in India explained that these were all call-centers and other back-office operations for Western companies. He said these were some of the fastest growing and most prosperous Indian companies today. Doesn’t surprise me at all.
