This sounds interesting:

Formerly a Soviet airbase, Parchim airport was intended to become a provincial airport serving the nearby city of Schwerin. This strategy failed as the airport was unable to attract sufficient passenger business. It now specialises in airfreight only.

After an earlier bid by British Wiggins Group collapsed in 2005, the Parchim county authority now intends to sell the site for an undisclosed sum. The sellers believe Parchim airport offers some unique advantages as it allows for round-the-clock operations, contrary to many other German airports that are confronted with night curfews. Furthermore, Parchim airport is closely located to the main highway that connects Hamburg with Berlin.

Via Air Cargo News. The Chinese freight forwarder Link Global Logistics purchased the freight only airport and will invest USD 27 million into development.
