All ok in India?

Last week I received news from India, and posted the same, that Jawaharlal Nehru Port was congested and experiencing a backlog of containers due to a shortage of rail capacity. My company’s contacts in India were monitoring the situation closely while my contacts in the liner industry claimed that the other terminals were all fine. At the same time, we received news that rain/weather were causing delays in Rajasthan, which was further complicating matters getting cargo to the ports via both truck and rail.

After much scrambling about, it turned out to be much ado about nothing. While a handful of my company’s shipments ended up being delayed by a week, most of them came through ok and as of Thursday last week everyone in India was telling me that, while things were tight, everything was moving as planned.

How about you? Anyone else affected by the congestion at JNPT or had a difficult time getting cargo to port? Because it seems like all went ok for us.
