It wasn’t too many years ago that it was difficult to get upper deck capacity to and from regions east of, well, California. But as China volumes – both ways – have surged carriers have been meeting the demand by routing freighters through other central and eastern markets.

Cathay Pacific is greatly expanding its freighter presence in the U.S. by introducing more frequency both in Dallas and Atlanta:

Its 747-400 freighter service from Hong Kong to both cities will increase to six-weekly flights from 25 July 2007. The service will become daily when another flight is added on 25 August.

Cathay Pacific director and general manager cargo Ron Mathison said: “Demand to and from both Dallas and Atlanta has been strong since the launch of these two new routes. The additional of three more frequencies bringing the freighter service to daily will make our service more attractive to shippers and strengthen Hong Kong as a regional hub for air cargo.”
