Shekou Terminal sets new 24-hr record for handling containers

Shenzhen’s Shekou Container Terminal set a new 24-hour record on December 12 when it handled 7,622 TEUs in 4,018 moves.

The terminal was loading the CSCL Pusan when it broke the record that was set on January 6, 2006, during the port call of OOCL Atlanta.

That’s roughly 318 containers per hour. Granted, you can’t compare apples to oranges, but this really puts American terminal operations to shame.
