Forget about demand for oil – coal exports to rise
Interesting post from ShopFloor.org. I didn’t know this, but according to The Washington Post article they linked to “World consumption of coal has grown 30 percent in the past six years, twice as much as any other energy source.” As ShopFloor.org notes, coal is a big export commodity for the U.S.:
It’s a heck of a story. Consider the trade angle: “The value of coal exports, which account for 2.5 percent of all U.S. exports, grew by 19 percent last year, to $4.1 billion, the National Mining Association said. An even bigger increase is expected this year.”

coal? what does it take to mine coal? diesel fuel and gas. and if gas goes up, the production cost of coal go up. people need to stop putting blame on housing markets and other things the media tries to say is the problem. it all falls back to one thing. GAS.

thanks for your comments, although I’m not quite sure how they relate to this post. This post simply states the fact that coal is a major export commodity for the U.S. and links to stories that the value of coal exports is growing. Not sure how that ties into the housing market or the media shifting attention….? We’re a business blog focusing on the logistics industry and supply chain management, that’s about it.
