Port of Houston reports “..limited negative impact from Hurricane Ike.”
Via American Shipper:
In Houston, officials said initial assessments “revealed minimal wind damage that knocked down a few fences, containers and electrical lines. We also received expected minimal water damage that caused some standing water. Overall, the port authority facilities and its assets are in good shape considering the magnitude and strength of the hurricane,” the agency added.
The port said all vessels docked at its terminals were secure. It added that the Rickmers Seoul broke loose “but it was contained and secured within a matter of minutes thanks to nearby tugboat operators.”
That’s good news indeed. The company I work for has personnel and operations in the area and luckily all are accounted for and operations back to normal.
